Exteme Home Makeover Clip

This clip touched, moved, and inspired me deeply, and called to me in a powerful way, for reasons that I hope will be obvious to you as you watch it…particularly the ending.
Before I go any further, I want to let you know that this was a part of ABC’s Extreme Home Makeover show that aired Sunday night, November 16, 2008…and I want to say that I understand why it happened the way it happened. But I also want to thank them for bringing the attention of people like me to this issue.
Now what do I mean, ‘people like me’? Well I am out to change the way we think about giving and change the opportunities we see to give of oursleves and be of service to others…because as good as giving is, and it is, it just isn’t nearly as touching, moving, or inspiring as it could be. It certainly (usually) isn’t so touching, moving, and inspiring that it literally transforms the lives of those involved to whole new levels of being.
Now I am a huge fan of Extreme Home Makeover, and when I am describing to people what I am up to these days, I invariably point to this show and I say, “like this.” Extreme Home Makeover literally touches, moves, and inspires absolutely everyone involved (including the viewers) in a way that is transforming everyone. There is no way you can be the same after involvement with this show.
In this particular show, and in this particular set of clips, however, I was struck…and while I wanted to say, “how could this be?” I know how come this was…they had seven days, no doubt they contacted this place off the internet. But what it really did was get me up off the couch and called me into action and I love them for that.
We need to get to Haiti with some toys and find those kids (or at least as many as we have toys to give) and give them the toys they didn’t get. And, if you can’t make this trip, that orphanage the boys came from needs a regular supply of food and funding. If you’d like to join me in this, please email me at sustainablelove@yahoo.com.
