I think the farmers using poisons had killed them all. When we finally saw one in our garden, we spread wet pieces of old carpet and put out tiny saucers of water. Now, we have probably a dozen of them. They are one of the few things in the garden that do no harm and do a great deal of good by eating insects. Learn to love their song.
